How It Works
Getting Married in NYC
Made Simple

Get Your Marriage License
Step 1
Book your appointment with the NYC City Clerk and obtain your marriage license.
NYC Requirements:
-
Both partners must appear together (or complete an approved virtual process).
-
Bring valid government-issued photo ID.
-
Marriage licenses are valid for 60 days.

Wait 24 Hours
Step 2
New York State requires a 24-hour waiting period before your ceremony can take place, unless a judge grants a waiver.
Don't worry—I'll help you plan your ceremony timeline around this requirement.

Celebrate Your Ceremony
Step 3
We'll meet at your chosen location and celebrate your love story.
During your ceremony, I'll:
✔ Officiate your ceremony
✔ Guide you through your vows
✔ Ensure every required signature is completed correctly

I Handle the Paperwork
Step 4
After your ceremony, I'll:
✔ Review all signatures
✔ Complete the officiant section
✔ Submit your marriage license to the City Clerk
What Happens Next?
Once the City Clerk receives your completed license:
-
Your marriage is officially registered.
-
Your Certificate of Marriage Registration is typically mailed within about 20 days.
-
During busy wedding seasons, processing may take 4–5 weeks.
-
If you haven't received your certificate after about a month, you can contact the City Clerk's office where your license was issued.
